I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), as well as, a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). I received my Master’s degree from Montclair State University, New Jersey, in clinical counseling with a specialization in addictions.
I began my career working in a residential program for individuals who were provided the opportunity to receive treatment for drug use rather than face judicial consequences. During this time, I saw the need for mental health and substance use programs to work hand in hand together. I then had the opportunity to work for a community health agency that focused on providing therapy to those struggling with chronic drug use. There, I created a co-occurring program that allowed my staff and me to focus on our clients as a whole and not by a defining trait.
The majority of my experience is with adults who have a history of trauma, grief/loss, substance use, mood disorders, anxiety, and relationship issues. I have worked with both individuals and couples. I will work with you to determine which clinical approach may be best suited; some of these approaches include DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and CBT. Overall, I like to encourage the understanding between our beliefs, emotions, and thoughts.
I understand the importance of the therapeutic relationship and focus on the connection between the client and therapist in order to create a welcoming environment that allows my clients to freely express themselves. Life at times can feel like waves overpowering us and keeping us from reaching the surface of the ocean. It is how we adapt to overcome and emerge from these waves that are important. Allow me to help prepare you for these waves and bring out your strength from within.
