Katarzyna "Kasia" Tomanek, LPC
I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in the state of Illinois. I graduated from Concordia University with a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. I speak Polish as well.
I began my career as a therapist with Behavioral Services Center. There, I ran weekly substance abuse groups as well as domestic violence groups for the perpetrators. I also worked with couples on their relational issues, and provided one on one counseling to individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma.
I am incredibly passionate about the field of psychology and I am always growing and learning as a clinician. With that being said, I will always strive to provide you with the best care necessary and use a holistic approach that address all aspects of your life. We all seek therapy for different reasons, that is why a one size fits all approach never works. I like to pull from various modalities and use techniques that make sense, ones that will help you grow as a person. I also believe in therapy being a collaborative process. We will work together in setting goals and in making sure that this process is catered to your needs.
At the core of my work I am client-centered. I believe in creating a completely non-judgmental safe space where you can be heard. I pull from CBT techniques, as well as ACT therapy, and Choice Theory to name a few. I provide anti-racist and culturally responsive therapy. To accommodate your busy schedule, I offer evening hours. I am LGBTQ plus allied.
